LEGISLATURE AUTHORIZES LEASE TO OWN
FINANCING FOR COUNTYWIDE EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM
The Legislature unanimously voted (13 to 0; 2
Legislators were absent), authorizing the County Administrator to
execute a Master Lease Agreement with Chase Equipment Leasing
Corporation in the amount of 8 million dollars. In December of
2005, the County entered into a contract with Motorola for the
construction of an 800 MHz digital radio system for emergency service
providers. The 10-year lease to own financing will provide
capital funding to permanently finance a portion of the Motorola
contract.
Recognizing that current financial conditions
favor lease financing, the Legislature authorized the Finance Director
to amend the Master Lease in an amount not to exceed 4 million dollars
for other expenses related to the Countywide Emergency Communications
System.
LEGISLATURE AUTHORIZES CONTRACT FOR
DIGITAL AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY
The Legislature unanimously voted (13 to 0; 2
Legislators were absent) to authorize the County Administrator to enter
into a $179,000 contract with Pictometry for digital aerial photography
products related to Emergency Response. Pictometry’s sole source
aerial imagery products will provide valuable, time saving information
to E-911 dispatchers, which can immediately be communicated to first
responders.
The contract amount will be funded by a New
York State 911 Board grant that was awarded to Tompkins County
Department of Emergency Response.
